• What does each label mean?

  Here is a list of the labels we use, and what they mean. Please keep in mind that Label Kitten can make mistakes when categorizing emails. Label Kitten will add all labels that are appropriate to every email, so you might see NEWSLETTER and SAFE-TO-DELETE on the same email.

  • LabelKitten: We use this label to mark that the email is processed by us. Any email with this label will be ignored in our processing step.
  • NEEDS-MANUAL-REVIEW: Label Kitten believes these emails needs manual review by you
  • CAN-BE-UNSUBSCRIBED: Label Kitten believes these emails can be unsubscribed
  • ACTION-REQUIRED: Label Kitten believes these emails requires action from you
  • PROMOTION: Label Kitten believes these emails are promotional emails.
  • NEWSLETTER: Label Kitten believes these emails are newsletters
  • IMPORTANT: Label Kitten believes these emails are important, and should not be ignored.
  • PERSONAL: Label Kitten believes these emails are from friends or family.
  • SPAM: Label Kitten believes these emails are spam
  • SAFE-TO-DELETE: Label Kitten believes these emails safe to delete, but also, please keep in mind that Label Kitten will make mistakes, so user review is advised
  • RECEIPT: Label Kitten believes these emails are receipts from purchases
• How does it categorize emails?

  Label Kitten uses a large language model to categorize emails, this means that it sometimes makes mistakes. Label Kitten downloads your email, and sends it to a third party for categorization. We never permanently store the email, and only use it for the duration of the processing. Read more about it below in "Is my data secure?".
• Is my data secure?

  Yes. All financial data is handled by our payment processor, stripe.com. Here is how we handle email content.

  1. You log in with google
  2. We securely save your account token in our database
  3. If you have tokens left, you can click "start processing", which starts the rest of this process
  4. We fetch your emails which needs processing, and store it in-memory on our server for the duration of the processing step.
  5. We immediately process the emails and securely pass information to the selected third party processor. For now, this is OpenAI, but will be configurable in the future.
  6. We update the tags on the relevant email using the gmail api
  7. The email, and all it's related information, is deleted from memory on our server.
  8. We update your account with the usage that incurred.
  9. We do not store metadata about the emails. All emails is fetched exclusively with the gmail api using our own "LabelKitten" label to indicate which emails are processed or not, in combination with read/unread status and other search filters.

  At no point do we store, or log, the contents of your email. All transfers over the network is encrypted with industry standard https/SSL encryption. Email content is passed along to a third party for LLM processing. Read more about their terms of service here. The LLM processor will be configurable in the future.

• What email providers are supported?

  Currently only Gmail is supported. Other major providers will be added in the future.
